Fri. 6 [6 August 1897] Lazy morning hanging round outside the inn.
After lunch Papa Elsa and I started off with E. Pic and LÈon to the
Refuge which we reached at 5.15. Emile Pic was busy building a
foolish boat shaped like a diamond on the lake. I went down and he
explained it all to me. Most excellent dinner of many courses during
which a wonderful alpen gluh shone on the mountain sides. LÈon
lighted a bonfire round which we stood and shivered. Cold starry[?]
night. Elsa and I shared a room and slept well.
