Sun. 14. [14 May 1899] Lovely day. Drove for 2 hours into the new
town to the Karlsplatz, then to the wonderfully interesting Jews' quarter,
then up to the Kleinseite where I saw the Cathedral (extraordinary
interesting chapel of St John N. frescoed and set with precious
stones) the Burg, the Mariensteft and a prison. Left at 3.13 and got to
Dresden at 7. Lovely line all along the Elbe and through Saxon
Switzerland. Caroline met me and we dined at a CafÈ. Johann
Georgen Allee 35, Pension Simla, Frl. Gaudian.
