Wed 3. [3 May 1899] Arrived at 6 and went up to the Hotel Royal
where we found Papa quite well. Bath and breakfast. It rained a little.
Out to the Museum where Uncle Tom was duly impressed with
Alexander's tomb, and to St Sophia. Round by the Hippodrome to
the bazaar where we bought otto of roses and so home. Slept after
lunch then over to Scutari [‹sk¸dar]. Most exquisite in the English
cemetary [sic], roses, lilac, Judas trees, tamarisk in full flower. Drove
through the Turkish cemetary and caught a steamer at Scutari home.
