Friday. Dearest Mother. We prosper. No one came yesterday till Aunt M [Maisie] and Aunt B appeared at 7. I think it was perhaps as well as Father was rather tired. Hugo arrived at 12. Aunt Bessie breakfasted with us and we arranged that Hugo shd drive with Father; but he missed us when we went to pick him up at the National Portrait Gallery. Father was rather saddened but he had a good talk with Hugo both before and after lunch so all was well. We drove in a shut[?] thing as it rained but this afternoon was lovely and I went for a walk directly after lunch with Flora. Tiny has just paid a long visit looking so pretty and charming. Father was much charmed.
We called on the Macmillans and the Stanleys this morning and discussed Eddie's future! Ever your affectionate daughter Gertrude
