Saturday. 95 Sloane Street. Dearest Mother. I think that will do very well - it's all too modest, but perhaps that's to the good. They'll be the more surprised when they read on! I love "what we call late!" and I like particularly the part about the cardinal principles. I feel it needs a good round sentence at the end.
I'll see the maid on Tuesday. I'm keeping the cook. She seems quite satisfactory though I haven't been able to put her to much test. She hasn't much initiative but she makes good little cakes. I'm off to the Ridgeway. Ever your affectionate daughter Gertrude.

Mrs Prothero[?] asks me to lunch tomorrow! But I can't. I seem to be the success in Bedford Sq. I bring light and joy there. Will you tell me Mr Blackwood's home address. I want to write to him.
